The "This is England" festival of British short films based in Rouen and the surrounding region is back. he 2024 edition  will take place from  16 to 24 November. A team of teachers has put together a special programme of screenings and teaching materials for primary, collège and lycée classes.

The festival has created a separate website for schools, called School Tie. The selections of films the schools screenings for this year are now on there for cycle 3, cycle 4 and  lycée. The screeningwill take place in 50 different cinemas around the five départements of the Normandy region. You can check out the list. Teaching materials are available to download for each of the three levels.

We've got information about the cycle 3, cycle 4 and lycée selections for you.

Programme
You can find the programme for each of the general public showings on the festival site.

A feature film will be screened on the opening and closing nights of the festival.

For the opening night on 16 November, it is a preview of Bird by Andrea Arnold (Red Road, Fish Tank), due to be released in January. It's a coming-of-age story about 12-year-old Bailey, who lives in a squat in Kent with her brother and her single dad, played by acting phenomenon Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, The Banshees of Inisherin). Her dad is always chasing hair-brained schemes, so Bailey sets off to find adventure herself.

And the closing night will feature The Miracle Club, released earlier this year, featuring an amazing cast of British and Irish actresses including the late great Maggie Smith. A group of women in working-class Dublin in the late Sixties win a pilgrimage to Lourdes. They are accompanied by Chrissie (Laura Linney), who has come home after 40 years in the U.S.A. for her mother's funeral. But the journey reveals a tragic past that connects three of the women.
