If you are going to have a language assistant this year in your school, let them know about the guide for assistants prepared by the CIEP each year, which they can download for free.

SN_guide_assistant_homeThe Guide de l'assistant de langue en France provides helpful information about practical and administrative issues before the assistant arrives and once they start work, including tips on making the most of their stay becoming more familiar with French culture and travelling within the country. Very practical information like how to go about finding somewhere to live, open a bank account, or when the school holidays will be.

The second part of the guide concerns the assistant's working life, with information about the different curriculum levels they may be teaching at and suggested activities for classes ranging from primary school to the end of secondary, including vocational classes.

The guide can be downloaded here in French. The first section "Before Leaving Home" is also available in English and Spanish.
