The tenth Women’s Rugby World Cup will take place from 22 August to 27 September in eight cities across England. Sixteen teams will battle for the title, from New Zealand, who have won six times and are the current champions, to newbie Brazil.
England is hosting the tournament for the second time. The Red Roses have been finalists six times but only won once, in 2014 in France. The English team is currently top of the world rankings, as well as having the home advantage.
For the 2025 edition the teams were increased from 12 to 16, giving four four-team pools for the first round.
Tickets have sold at record-breaking speed and the organisers hope that this tournament will really put women's rugby on the map. England will open the tournament on 22 August in Sunderland, with a match against the U.S.A., who won the first ever Women’s RWC in 1991.
This video introducing the tournament features Red Roses full-back and Team GB sevens player Ellie Kildunne, French captain Manaé Feleu, South African captain Babalwa Latsha and Black Ferns full-back Renee Holmes.
