This resource will introduce students to an aspect of Indian culture: the festival of Holi, when participants throw brightly coloured powders and water to welcome the arrival of spring. Pupils will watch a video, listen to a short extract of a podcast and read an article to help them find out how Indians celebrate this festival, which falls on 8 March in 2023.

  • Notions : Langages / Voyages et migrations

Objectifs linguistiques :

  • Grammaire : présent continu
  • Lexique : verbes (pray, pay a tribute, throw, gather)/ types d’instruments de musique / printemps (harvest, farmers)
  • Phonologie : le son /eɪ/ (pay, pray) / se familiariser avec l’accent indien (podcast) / verbes en -ed (celebrated, composed, united)

Objectifs pragmatiques : s’appuyer sur des indices (images, musiques) pour émettre des hypothèses sur ce que les gens fêtent et où ils sont.

Objectifs culturels : Fêtes du printemps / Culture Indienne (Hinduisme)
