Grenoble University is offering a free online MOOC on using digital technology to aid language teaching and learning.

The six-week Massive Online Open Course will look at four different approaches to integrating technology in language teaching. The philosophy of the course is not just to assume that anything using digital technology is good, but to reflect on its uses and disadvantage, and the choose the best tools for every situation.

There are four themes:

  • when and how to effectively integrate digital tools into language teaching
  • combining distance and class learning for language learners
  • appropriate use of social media to open up the learning experience beyond the classroom
  • using digital tools to facilitate projects using several languages

The courses are taught by Grenoble University lecturers.

Anyone can sign up for the free course, though it is designed with language teachers in mind. It will take about four hours per week, with intermediate and final tasks leading to a certificate.

The course starts on 14 May. For more information and to sign up.
